Life as it happens

It is funny how life turns out for each one of us. Some of us are lucky enough to have housing and all utilities to lead a very exclusive life whilst others are struggling getting through a day. I guess it is true what they say, we don’t get to choose our families or life situations for that matter, and we just go with the flow. Life puts us together with people with different societal positions and mixes us all up. Thus creating some sort of equality. Or is it? The more I go through life the more I realize how things are very relative and very hard to define. I mean how does one define fairness of an action for instance? According to which set standards do we measure our standard of living. People say that there comes an age where we realize what is ‘good’ and what is ‘bad’ yet again is there a set definition of either of these words?

According to certain circumstances we take decisions and make choices and not always do we know what is right and what is wrong. Most of us just follow their intuition, the gut feeling – call it whatever you want. Intuitive thinking is argued to be questionable. What if you don’t think this action through and it leads to some consequences? Well, I say you go back to your chemistry class and remember that any action has an opposite equivalent reaction. So does it really matter whether or not the decision was made intuitively or thought through – either way you face a consequence.

Consequences. No one likes to deal with the consequences of any decisions. That’s why people talk about due diligence of an action. One thing that I have learnt in life is that no matter how much thinking you put into something there will always be a detail that has skipped your attention. You can’t take into account everything and live a life without making any mistakes. Mistakes are how we learn in life. Biggest lessons of life are taught through mistakes.

Perfection does not exist.

Some people go through life thinking that they don’t matter to anyone and that if one day they were gone no one would notice that they missing. The assumption is wrong in many ways. At least someone will notice the absence of that person. If you were brought to this World then there must be a reason why you are here – even if it is as simple as to live! The biggest adventure of life begins when you stop thinking and start living. Go out and have a nice dinner with some friends, smile to a stranger and read a good book – all you need to be happy. Well, the most simplified version of it of course.  Today people search for happiness without even knowing what happiness is. So how can you look for something that you don’t even know the meaning of? It gets complicated doesn’t it?

Happiness is not a destination is a state of mind. To be happy all you need to do is surround yourself with a good company of friends, good food and have a shelter. You start loving the life you have been given; life starts bringing good surprises your way. Ever thought why some people have it all and others somehow have nothing? Perhaps it is simply because those people love what they are doing and where they are in life. They love their job and the people they are with and hence life is being friendly to them. Brings back to mind a famous saying: ‘Smile to the world and the world will smile back’. Keep that in mind next time you start complaining about something!
