Estoril, Portugal

Today for the very first time in forever I felt inspired and was mesmerized by the beauty of this place! In Estoril, people are happy with what they have, they smile and enjoy their life – people are happy and alive! That’s truly inspiring! It’s amazing how on the other hand people who have a lot more in materialistic terms seem to be unhappy stressed concerned about life!! Long story short if you are looking for a peaceful romantic and magical spot for vacation think of Estoril!! Trust me it’s worth it!! estorilestroil2

Eat. Pray. Love. – Travelling Entry – Greece

Hello there,

This diary is an open book to my world. The world full of adventures, romance and dreams. My life has been filled with all different types of events and this story starts in summer 2013. The summer when I finally decided that to be able to fully appreciate and live the life that I have I simply have to: Eat. Pray. Love.

This summer has began unexpectedly and so far has been very adventurous. As soon as my last exam was over I took off on a flight to Athens where my friends awaited my arrival. When I landed in Athens, I took a boat to an island Hydra. Hydra a beautiful island in the middle of Mediterranean sea. An island where one can truly forget about everyday trouble and be taken away by the beauty and the careless lifestyle of the citizens. Cars – non existent! Any transportation is either done by horse back riding, donkeys or on foot. In the morning you wake up to a breathtaking view of the sea and the bright sun shines right through your window, as the birds’ singing breaks the silence. Once awake, you go to a bakery where fresh made bread and pastry are awaiting your arrival. A nice capuccino fredo and pastry make perfect breakfast. Enjoying every bite you take and every sip you take. This is what makes life beautiful. Peaceful breakfast, peaceful summer. The occasional light summer breeze gently reminds you that there is a world out there and that despite careless lifestyle there are things that need to be taken care off, even if it’s just a small decision of which beach to get to. I stayed at the island for one day only yet it was enough for me to realise that this was new destination that I will be certainly coming back to.

Next stop: Athens. When we arrived back to Athens we had to get to our hotel. We took the subway which allowed me to see the culture I was visiting better. The subway experience was just as I expected – you can observe different types of people. The sporty type, the type that just got off work shift, the housewives and the random people type – all in one place. At our stop we immediately sensed that something was wrong. There was a riot right in front of the parliament in the centre of the city. The riot had some historical connotation and seemed to be an important historical event for the citizens of the city. Yet for the tourists that know nothing of Greek history – this was quite worrying. The people that I was with started to panic and it seemed like they went through a cultural shock. I come from a country where riots are relatively common therefore, as a cultural shock this didn’t strike me that much. However, I did think of every possible solution to what seemed to be a problem. So many thoughts ran through my mind wishing and hoping and praying that this night would be over. People were outside marching and waving flags trying to prove a point. And although I didn’t understand the language it was obvious that people of Athens were in unrest. The riot ended in a couple of hours and it was all forgotten as a scary nightmare. After riot was over the city was at rest again like nothing ever happened. Miracle.

Next Stop: Santorini. As soon as I saw the island from the cruise ship I fell in love with the place. The whole island is built on a cliff and at first sight one does not fully understand where they are and where they are going to be. However, once you are on the top of the island there is not one thing that doesn’t leave your heart at peace. The view is breathtaking especially at sunset. The island is filled with romance and dreams. The red beach at the tip of the island is absolutely amazing. At first as a tourist you are left with a small misunderstanding to where you are. After a small hike you reach your destination. The water in the sea is refreshing and red sand is magic. The beach is part of the cliff. There are a couple of mysterious doors that lead to nowhere in particular. As it turned out the doors led to the rooms where the fishermen stayed over night. Every part and every city of that island made me fall in love with the island more and more.

If you have never been to Greece, visit it and enjoy it to the fullest. Eat. Pray. Love. xoxo
